Crash Into Me

I've been out of town for a few days, but had hoped to post something while gone. Obviously, that didn't happen. We went to visit family and attend my niece's third birthday party. On the way out of town, we were in an accident with a tractor trailer on the interstate. I am now a true believer in the safety record of Hondas. We were rear-ended at about 60 mph and there were no injuries. The back of the van is crunched and the glass was knocked out, but none of us (including our puppy in the cargo area) were hurt. The driver and sheriff were friendly and non-confrontational, which reduced some of the anxiety. Of course, I flipped out as soon as it was over, but I managed to hold it all together initially. We were able to drive the van back to our house and drove a rental to my parents' house.

Mea's party was a smashing success. Her very creative mommy had a sundae bar instead of cake, including vegan options. I asked LB what she liked best about the party and she said, "ice cream." Now she has been demanding a birthday of her very own. Do you think she's spoiled much? We may have to steal the sundae idea for our next party. Mea's mommy, Paige, is not at all a girly-girl and has never been a fan of pink and purple. Mea has decided to torture her mother with her love of these colors, as well as tutus and princess outfits. She's a riot. Paige made the mistake of asking her which colors she would like for the party and she would only consider pink and purple. I would love to post photos, but I stupidly left my camera at my dad's house. I'll have to share those later. A present of note: my in-laws made a HUGE doll house for Mea. She absolutely loved it, as did my own daughter. I guess I'm finally going to have to dig out the dollhouse from my childhood. Ugh. I have no idea where we will put it. How did we grow out of this house so quickly? Anyway, once I get my cameras back, I'll post photos of the doll house too. I can share a photo of one of the gifts that we gave Mea. We ordered a fantastic faery necklace from a seller on etsy and purchased a faery book to go along with it.

This is the necklace from etsy seller mapetitepapeterie:

I couldn't resist ordering a few more items, including this gorgeous card made from one of his original illustrations:

Check him out if you get the chance. His shop is full of wonderful creations!

So today I'm just trying to get back into the routine and unpack from the trip. I don't know why we travel so much. I hate to pack and unpack. Perhaps I'm a masochist. Speaking of masochism, I guess I need to get back to the gym tomorrow. I've put it off for entirely too long.
